Botox
If there is one life hack, it’s Botox.
Ever seen someone who looks younger than they say they are? They’re using botox.
Confession: My nurse practitioner injects my Botox every 6 months, like clockwork. When you see me in the clinic, you’ll notice that I keep some facial movement and animation. In short: I get Botox, but it doesn’t look like I do.
Botox is the least invasive injection, and should be viewed very differently than fillers, even though they are sometimes lumped together. While fillers leave a product under your skin that lasts for a year (like in lip fillers) Botox is gone in hours. All of the work done in weakening the muscles is done within the few hours that Botox is actually in your system. Yet, even though the Botox is rapidly gone, the results last for months because the muscles are temporarily weakened. No permanent changes occur to the body with Botox.
Botox is a purified preparation of botulinum toxin A that blocks the transmission of nerve impulses to muscles and relaxes them. Fillers, on the other hand, are made of various types of hyaluronan (hyaluronic acid or HA) to add volume and smooth out lines/wrinkles. The first is a muscle relaxer, the other is a soft tissue volumizer.
Botox relaxes the muscles around the eyes and in the brow, leading to less wrinkles in the upper part of the face. Botox is really a no brainer for your “youth regimen”. It doesn’t leave you looking surprised, but instead, it actually leaves you looking rested.
Botox Method
Botox is a simple, straightforward treatment with injections into the eyebrow and forehead areas. The procedure lasts only a few minutes and involves anywhere from 5 to 10 small needle pokes. My nurse practitioner and I use the smallest needles possible so it’s as easy and low pain as can be. It’s important to me that you feel comfortable during your visit.
We trace out the small veins on your forehead and eye creases to avoid any bruising. While it would be very rare to have any bruising from Botox, if it does occur it will be minimal and can easily be covered with concealer.
Passion for Education
I have a passion for education and making sure my patients get the information they need. Most of our patients have a 20-minute phone call to discuss their goals in depth before scheduling an in-person appointment. That allows them to be as informed as possible before coming in for a visit. My receptionists and office ladies are here to answer your questions and satisfy your concerns.
My consultations are always personal and never rushed. Whether you see my nurse practitioner or me for Botox, we spend a lot of time with you to make sure you’re comfortable with your treatment plan. It is important to me that you feel welcomed and relaxed during your time with us.

Top 7 Reasons for Botox
There are a lot of benefits in receiving a Botox
1. Look Rested
2. Removes strong animation of the brow (the 11’s)
3. Softens facial creases and wrinkles
4. Smooths the appearance of your skin
5. Makes you look less angry
6. No downtime
7. Look younger
Am I a candidate for Botox?
You are a good candidate for Botox if you have lines around your eyes and across your brow. Frown lines in the lower face, around the mouth can also be treated with Botox, as can a gummy smile. If you feel that too much of your teeth and gums show when you smile, a small amount of Botox can relax the smiling muscles and make your smile more subtle. If you see the beginnings of fine lines and wrinkles, then you can consider early and preventative Botox, as early as in your twenties.
Recovery
On the day of Botox injections there can be small welts at the injection sites for an hour or two. Ice and elevation helps. Results start to be visible in just a few days, with wrinkles starting to fade immediately. 2 weeks is when the full effect of Botox kicks in, and it should last for 4-6 months. Recovery is a few hours, and bruising is rare. Even if you have a tendency to bruise, it may take only a couple of days to have no evidence of injections. Overall, there is little to no recovery and no downtime after a Botox treatment. Most patients return to their daily activities immediately after their treatments, maybe waiting to use the gym about a day. If touch ups are needed, they can be easily done within a few weeks.
