Matching the outside age to the inside age. That’s the goal of a facelift.

If you look like you’re 60, but feel like you’re 40, a facelift and neck lift is the right procedure for you. My goal is to make you look younger and feel refreshed by gently shifting the facial tissues to create a “rested” appearance without looking wind-swept or overdone.

A facelift is a surgical procedure that enhances your facial appearance and neckline, making you look decades younger. By tightening muscles and deep tissues, as well as removing extra skin, I can smooth the lines on your face, reshaping your jawline and neck. A facelift and neck lift removes the loose, sagging skin in your neck and jowls that have developed over time. When I perform a facelift, I see it as helping my patients feel more attractive and confident in their appearance by turning back the clock.

Am I a good candidate for a Facelift?

If you are in good physical health and have a realistic expectation of the procedure, you are a good candidate for a facelift. The aging process affects us all in different ways depending on our genetic inheritance and lifestyle. Weight changes can also affect the way the neckline develops over time. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, 66 percent of facelift patients in 2018 were age 55 and over.

Types of Facelifts

There are different types of facelifts I can use depending on your specific needs. During our consultation, we can discuss what you are looking to get done and I can best achieve your goals.

Mini Facelift

A mini facelift is ideal for people looking for a subtle improvement to their faces, often against early signs of aging. This procedure works well for patients who want to deal with their upper face and jowls. Sometimes a mini facelift can be performed to correct upper facial sagging, combining liposuction of the double chin to correct the lower face. The scar is shorter than a full facelift, and is hidden along the inner ear and hairline.

SMAS Facelift

A SMAS (Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System) facelift involves the upper, middle and bottom two-thirds of your face, lifting and repositioning your skin and its underlying muscles (SMAS). By repositioning the deeper layer of muscle and tissue, this technique can produce longer-lasting results than a mini facelift. The scar extends further into the temple area and along the back of the hairline behind the ear.

Non-Surgical or “Liquid” Facelift

There are some options for treatments of your face without the need to go under the knife through the use of injections. Primarily cheek augmentation, adding cheek fillers such as Voluma, can help to pull the face upwards by making the skin more taut. These injections do not require incisions or anesthesia, and are a great option for subtle results with no downtime.

Ablative Laser Resurfacing

We may also decide to resurface your facial skin at the time of your facelift. With the addition of CO2 laser resurfacing, the face is smoothed out. Fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth and eyes can be “sanded down” to even the peaks and valleys in these areas. Laser resurfacing causes the skin to look red and pink for several weeks after. If a facelift is coarse correction of deep facial wrinkles, CO2 laser resurfacing is fine correction of thin facial lines. In this way we can treat wrinkles big and small.

Regardless of the technique, I take great pride in safety going over every detail to ensure a successful procedure. I use the most advanced surgical techniques that result in natural-looking outcomes. I also create a comfortable environment that makes your visit an easy experience: clinical yet comfortable. My staff and I care about you from the moment you come in for your consultation to your follow-up visits and beyond.

Facelift Consultation

One of my favorite times is meeting a patient during a consultation. My clinic is filled with people who need people. We get to talk about your current health, what you want to change in your life and how I can help you achieve your goals

I will look at your facial profile and decide on what will best fit you: mini facelift, facial liposuction, a full facelift, CO2 laser resurfacing, injectable fillers, fat transfer, and beyond. I customize every procedure. You are unique and your goals are unique; I take that into account.

Of course, you’ll get a chance to ask questions and find the answers you’ve been looking for. I’m honest with my patients because I want what is best for them. I spend time getting to know you and review your medical history, including any past surgeries and medical conditions. My goal is to provide the best results and do it in a safe and comfortable environment.

Reasons for a Facelift

Why should you get a facelift? Here are some of the reasons how a facelift can transform your look:

  • Create a youthful appearance
  • Does not alter hairline
  • Smoothes out wrinkles and sagging skin
  • Firmer and tighter skin
  • Improve your self-esteem
  • Incisions can be hidden inside and behind the ear
  • Avoid an “operated on” or “windswept, pulled” look

Recovery after your Facelift

We have a recovery program here at my surgical suite, which includes having an overnight nurse stay with you here, the first night after your surgery. This takes an immense pressure off of your family and caregiver in the immediate postop period. We do all of the worrying!

I will see you that evening and also the next morning at your discharge from the facility. After that, we will see you frequently for follow up visits. In addition, we are always available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week should you have any questions or concerns during your healing process. As you can see, I’m quite involved in my patients’ recovery; it is as important as the procedure itself.

Here are some tips to make your facelift recovery as easy as possible:

  • You will have a gentle elastic wrap around your head to help decrease swelling
  • You may also get a small drain, if necessary
  • You may experience mild discomfort the first couple of days
  • Pain medication can be prescribed
  • Keep your head elevated on several pillows for the first week
  • It’s important to get plenty of rest
  • You can walk around a little to get the blood flowing
  • After a few days, your swelling should begin to subside allowing you to do more of your daily activities
  • It can take a couple of weeks for your bruising and swelling on your face and neck to start to disappear
  • You will need to wait about a month before doing more strenuous exercises
