Why is plastic surgery becoming more popular and accessible? Is plastic surgery more affordable now than it was?
We live in a "Selfie" generation and we are somewhat obsessed with "self" in the U.S.
SO, as we leave the self-help aisles at Barnes & Noble, we wander into plastic surgeons offices! We are also bombarded with images of the Kardashians, of the Real Housewives, and of photoshopped pics on instagram (follow me! follow me! no photoshop I swear) and we are just trying to keep up as we look at ourselves in the mirror. Some of this is not ideal, of course, just like it's not great for me to look at my neighbors lawn every morning and wish my lawn were as green... but I still do it!
But plastic surgery is also safer than it once was. We know more than we once did, our techniques are better, our medicines are safer, and our standards are strict (as long as you find the right doctor! board certified plastic surgeons only!)
And alas, it is also cheaper than it once was. Plastic surgery has really embraced non-surgical procedures, like botox, fillers, and non-invasive skin lasers. These procedures sometimes are like a "gateway drug" into plastic surgery, but they also offer a small fix for a small problem, which is sometimes all we need, right?
